Hello, Long COVID community!
How everyone is feeling?
With the holiday season well and truly at our doorstep, I just wanted to take a minute to acknowledge the challenge that this may bring whilst living with a chronic illness.
If you're feeling anxious about the socialising that comes with this season, I've compiled a list of some (hopefully!) helpful tips.
- If you have the energy to spare and socialising in person feels appropriate for you, setting boundaries by only committing to social gatherings that feel the most meaningful and supportive for you may be a good place to start. That way you're gaining the benefits of socialising but also remaining mindful of your energy!
- If you would like to spend time with friends and family but do not have the energy to attend in person gatherings, organising a group zoom call and share a meal online, or if appropriate, asking loved ones to gather at your home may feel like a supportive option.
- When meeting in person, arrange to meet outside if possible as this will not only provide you with some beautiful sunshine and fresh air, but will also reduce the likelihood of a COVID-19 re-infection (being mindful of other protective measures such as mask wearing and testing will also be great steps to take).
- Engage in online forums (such as this one!) to connect with others and gain the support and connection that you're looking for.
I hope that you're feeling supported throughout this period.
As always, we're here to help so please reach out when needed.
Warmest,
Sally
